Rainy week ahead

Good evening friends and neighbors!

We are opening the market up just a wee bit early this week due to managerial time constraints on Sunday morning. We hope that this will afford some of you an extra opportunity to browse and order at your leisure.

This week’s weather is supposed to be cloudy and rainy for most of the area so everyone please be careful driving. The deluge the other day in Citrus and Marion Counties was so terrible it was difficult to see the road to drive at times. Please take extra care in this dangerous weather.

We hear that Roxie’s Mom is back at home and doing better. Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes for her family last week.

There has been a varmint getting into some of the chicken coops recently which is driving costs up for everyone. We hope our growers who are suffering from this hungry pest are able to remedy the problem and rebuild their flocks soon.

Shoebox Herb Gardens is taking a vacation this week but fret not dear friends, you will be able to order her products again starting August 25th.

So without further adieu, your CCLG Market is OPEN!!!

Thank you for your support and patronage!

Autumn is Technically here

Good morning friends and neighbors,

We’d like to start this week’s weblog off with a prayer for the mother of one of our growers, Roxanne Cochran of Roxie’s Garden. She had to got to Emergency last Thursday. Please keep her in your prayers for a fast and full recovery.

Autumn is technically here but it sure doesn’t FEEL like it does it? With temps still ranging in the low to mid 90s it’s still important to be careful when you’re getting out and enjoying the outdoors. Wear your sunscreen and drink plenty of fluids!

We have lots to choose from this week with a few changes here and there so go ahead and browse all the categories while you’re considering what to order!

Early August

Hi all CCLG members
Summer continues with hot days and frequent rain. While we need the rain growing anything other than Okra is very challenging.

CONGRATULATIONS go to Jeff Berman of Inverness. He entered our Facebook competition and his lucky number came up. Jeff receives a $25 market credit. Our thanks go to our volunteer, Becca Jackson for organizing that.

As the summer goes on think about changing up the salad or even easier is to try the Calamari Salad from Simply Seafood. Asian inspired flavoring.

Eggs have been short for a few weeks now. Florida Fresh Meat has made a small quantity of their eggs from pastured chickens available.

Talking of fresh meat did you notice the recall of beef this week? That is another reason to know where meat is raised and processed.

Purchasing your produce from local growers and knowing sources helps to keep you and your family safe from food borne illnesses.

Thank you for supporting our local growers.
The market is open.

New Experiences, New Friends

Good morning friends and neighbors!

As many of you heard, there was a new market opened up in Crystal River in the old Sears store of the Mall. Several of CCLG’s growers took the opportunity to get out and meet the community through this venue. Coffey Break Farm was present, Florida Fresh Meat Company was represented, Register Cracker Farm was there as well as SaraFay Farm and Shoebox Herb Gardens. We had a great day and really enjoyed meeting the members of the community we serve as well as other vendors! YOU make this market and every event we attend an exciting and enriching experience for us, thank you!

This week’s market is OPEN! www.citruscounty.locallygrown.net/ See you Thursday!

The weather is having negative affects on farms.

Good Morning Everyone!

I’m sure some of you with your own gardens have noticed that all this bad weather has been having some negative effects. It’s not just the herbs and vegetables and fruits that are suffering. Chickens are molting and goats have been coming down with illness too. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our friends and neighbors and growers whose farms are suffering the negative effects of all this bad weather. From plant root rot to a lack of eggs to goats falling ill, we hope everything recovers quickly!

Our growers are doing their best to continue to offer you the very best in locally grown, chemical free produce, dairy, and more.
